Technical and professional training for young women and mothers from disadvantaged neighborhoods in El Salvador
The project aims to provide technical and professional training to young women and mothers so that they can support their families through paid work. SIRAMA began its activity by offering three-month technical training courses in baking, crafts, hairdressing, cutting, and sewing.
Thanks to the support of ACTEC, our partner has diversified and strengthened its offering by proposing longer courses (1 and 2 years). In addition, the technical programs are accompanied by comprehensive training that informs women about their rights in society and concrete ways to improve their living conditions and those of their families: hygiene, nutrition, community organization, etc.
Originally established in a training center in downtown San Salvador, ACTEC supported SIRAMA in 2003 to expand its activities to the Soyapango district, on the outskirts of the capital, in order to reach more women in need.
Beneficiaries served
