The essence of the ACTEC MBA
In 2008, ACTEC began to design and implement the ACTEC MBA, a Programme inspired by the teaching methods of the MBA Programmes of the world’s best business schools, adapted to the circumstances, profiles, needs, possibilities and limitations of male and female micro-entrepreneurs in socially vulnerable situations. Its objective is to develop the managerial and strategic skills of the target audience so that they can transform their businesses and in turn become the driving force behind the development of their communities.
Since its beginnings, the Programme has evolved: the experiences and lessons learned with each of the institutions with which ACTEC collaborates have contributed to improving the quality of the Programme until it reaches its current reality. Today, we are in a moment of deepening and expanding the Programme.
In 2022, four institutions in three different countries (Guatemala, Colombia and El Salvador) and in two different modalities (agro-urban) are implementing the Programme. Naturally, each local partner and each country has its own idiosyncrasies and particular characteristics that require some adaptation and contextualisation of the Programme. It is expected that in the coming months the ACTEC MBA will start in Kenya, which represents a very different language, business context and culture from the countries where the Programme has been carried out so far and therefore a new challenge.
The institutional strengthening that ACTEC is committed to offering to all its partners can be divided into three different modalities: group sessions in the form of seminars, courses, conferences, etc.; individual support in the form of coaching and personalised advice; and publications in the form of Manuals that summarise in a synthetic and systematic way various facets or essential aspects of the Programme (Methodology, Case Study Method, Impact Assessment, Communication, etc.).
To summarise the essence of the ACTEC MBA, we offer you this short presentation by the founder of the Programme, Daniel Turiel.
